Forbidden by Amy Miles

How do you stay pure when you're married to a monster bent on breaking you? How do you stay alive and continue to fight after seeing your family and friends murdered on your wedding day? Roseline is an immortal, she didn't ask for it or want it. Her husband changed her on their wedding day and has been trying to break her for three centuries.
This book was wonderful! I was totally hooked within the first few pages. Roseline is married to somebody she didn't want to be with because her father saw the money he had and was blind to everything else. Well, talk about a marriage from hell. Roseline has been fighting for her freedom every step of the way and suffering the punishments her husband gives her for it. As an immortal she can suffer a lot of pain and torture. In order to heal faster she just needs to drink some human blood, but to an immortal it's addicting like a drug. Blood is life but it changes you, it can turn you into the very thing you hate. Roseline would rather suffer then risk turning into a monster like her husband. She doesn't want to risk hurting any human, and because of her strong will she fights the pull of the blood. After her last beating from her husband she takes action on her escape plan that's been over a year in the making. She will finally have the opportunity to get away from the life she hates. Leaving Romania she heads for Chicago, but what awaits her will open up an old side of herself she's locked away.
Anywho, this is a great book and I absolutely loved it! I went and bought the second and third book as soon as I finished this one. I give this one 5 stars.

Darkness Betrayed (Torn 2) by Christine Hughes

After the betrayal of your best friend and the deaths of other friends what do you do? How do you grieve in a constant battle zone? The fight between good and evil is a long and hard one. The decisions you make will determine if you are an Exiled or a Faithful. Being only 18 make it all that much harder. Samantha is in love with her guardian angel but is having problems choosing to stay with him because they aren't suppose to be together. She wants him to be with her and wants to be with him but she doesn't see that happening any time soon. After training one day Samantha is taken by an Exiled and when she comes to she's chained to the floor.
Malena was once a Faithful, but like some Faithful and Exiled questioned her choices and wasn't sure where she truly stood. Having her choice taken from her she is now an Exiled. After Samantha wakes up chained to the floor Malena comes to her and tells her she's there to train her. Samantha can't control the dark and light inside herself to be the balance she wants to be.
Damien, the devil himself, was created to take the pain and suffering from the humans. He was once an angel in heaven but for his betrayal in the Garden of Eden was exiled and banished from heaven. Although he wasn't working alone. Sebastian was there whispering in the devils ear. Malena asked him for his help in deciding her side, Faithful or Exiled, and had the choice taken from her. She was made Damien's right-hand man and it is he who sends her to train Samantha. What he didn't know is that Samantha, though a healer, is also like him. She siphons the pain and anger away from her friends when a healer would just fill others with light. He wants her.
When you're desperate to help the ones you love you will do anything for them, even if you have to make a deal with the devil. When one returns another shall leave. There will always be a balance between good and evil even when one may start to tip the scales. What you do will determine who you are and what you fight for. Samantha is to be betrayed once more, but will she be able to keep her control? Can she stay enough in the light to be the balance she promised to be?

This book and this author are amazing! I honestly didn't want to finish this book because of how well written and entertaining it was. You get sucked into the story and just want to keep on going. You feel all the emotions each character has, you aren't just stuck with one or two feelings. You will touch a lot of different feelings while reading this book. I love when an author does so well of a job you are sucked into their world and can feel a part of it. I look forward to reading so much more from Christine Hughes!!

Torn by Christine Hughes

Torn by Christine Hughes

The fight between good and evil is still at hand. A young woman can tip the balance for better or for worse depending on the path she takes. She struggles within herself fighting her own demons and those trying to persuade her to evil. But will it be enough? Samantha always thought she was a normal human teenage girl. Her father had protected her from the truth until his death. Now it is up to Samantha to decide if she will follow the plan he had set up for her to land on the side of good, or will she let her demons win and evil consume her?
I loved Torn! This is an amazing book on the war between good and evil. The author fills this story with hope, love, despair, betrayal, and sadness. There is so much to this story and it's told in such a way you don't want to put it down. Samantha just found out who she really is and is dealing with a lot. After just finding out about the death of her dad she's learning how to fight and use her new found abilities all to fight in the war between good and evil. The hard part is figuring out everything and sticking to the side you know is right. Now it's up to Sam to pick the side she wants to fight on: good or evil. To her it's a simple black and white answer: Good. But what she is learning and starting to understand is that the choice isn't always that simple. Each and every person has a darkness inside of them that is always trying to become the more dominate, it is a struggle and not one where good can always win. Sam's dad wasn't always on the good side of the fight so her demons are a lot stronger than she has yet to realize. With the help of her friends Lucas and Ethan she is training to fight and stay strong to the good inside her. Although she's fighting to stay on the path of good she's seeing that her darkness is starting to gain some. When the three have to relocate for more help in training Sam, she starts to see who her two friends truly are. One will fight with her and be the balance she needs while the other will betray her and through that betrayal push her to turn into who she needs to be. I give this book 5 fangs for how amazing and enthralling the story is. This book was a gift from the author for a honest review. I give thanks to Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock for giving me the opportunity to read Torn and go on this amazing journey for a new series.

Imagine by: Christiane Shoenhair and Liam McEvilly

Imagine by: Christiane Shoenhair and Liam McEvilly
This was a gift from the author for a honest review.
Oh my gosh! The opening to this book is great. The description of what is happening and details of the people there is wonderful! I love it when an author actually gives you a good description on how a person looks, their eyes, hair, etc. There is no time wasted on getting the story started. I will do my best not to give any spoilers but it may be hard at times. The descriptions given make me want to move to the places in this book. I can't get enough of the details and how everything feels like you can just walk through a door and be right there. Trish has just found out something that is a big game changer in her life. Going from living with her mom in Florida to a boarding school in California was the result of the secret. Being a teenager is tough all on its own but add an odd little twist to it and things become more interesting. Even though Trish has moved to a new place she is living as normal of a teenage life as possible. As it is with all high school girls Trish is finding new friends and a new love life. Everything is going to change due to one big secret. Life for Trish will not continue how she knows it and it is up to her, her family, and friends to protect all of humanity from being destroyed.
I can't thank Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock enough for sending me this amazing book to review. I can't wait for more! This is definitely a 5 fangs for me! ;) There are some spots with incorrect punctuation and a few uncompleted thoughts/sentences. I also found some places where the wrong word was used. Overall the mistakes were very minor and didn't interfere much at all except where it was an incomplete sentence.
Quotes:
"I love how books let you escape, how one minute you're lying on your bed alone and with the turn of a page you're in a foreign land painted in your mind by the author. Whether it is in the past, a different country or even a completely different world entirely, it's a great way to escape."
"I look at Keagan; I mean really look at him. I don't like that he is using how and where he was raised as an excuse for everything that he has done to me. I see it all of the time, everyone blaming something or someone for their own actions. If you make a choice you have to stick with it, regardless. Stop blaming the system and be accountable for your own choices."

“Remember, your mind is like a book Trish, it's only any use to you if it's open.”

Queen’s Honor – Betrothal, Book 1 and Quest, book 2 by Mande Matthews

I found this book on Amazon while looking for something new to read. To be honest I didn't even read the little blurb but looked at the cover. This is a very short story from the point of view of a young Lady Guinevere. For a short read with a lot of feeling in it this is a go-to for me. I would've liked it a lot longer but this is great if you only have an hour or less to read. I give them both 5 stars for how well the story is told.

Book 1 Blurb:
Tales of Lady Guinevere.
 Caught between duty and desire
“A masterful mix of romance, legend and magic…”
Lady Guinevere holds the crown to a ancient kingdom. Without brothers to ascend the throne, marriage to her will assure any man the right to rule.
Arthur Pendragon has won his power through battle. His legions have elected him their king and protector but he seeks to legitimize his claim to High King through marrying Guinevere.
Lancelot, a valliant knight with a broken past, is driven by his desire to protect those in need. He’s joined Arthur’s forces because he believes in Arthur’s dream of peace for a war-torn country.
But Lancelot possesses something that Arthur can never win…Guinevere’s heart.
QUEEN’S HONOR is told from the point of view of a young Guinevere as she is caught between the responsibility of her crown and the desires of her heart. The fantasy romance is imbued with celtic lore and magic, putting a fresh spin on an age-old tale of love and honor.

Book 2 (my mini)Blurb: This is the second book for Queen's Honor and is when Lady Guinevere joins her new husband in Camelot.

Sentence of Marriage (Promises to Keep) by Shayne Parkinson

To be honest this book was pretty slow and depressing for me, but I also loved it. It doesn't hold a fantasy, everything always has a happy ending story line, but a very real and factual line. It did start out slow for me and then it picked up a little ways into the story. There is a depressing air around the entire story with some happy. You have to understand something first though, not everything has a happy-go-lucky story. There are real people who can relate to this story and we shouldn't act as if the things in this story can't or won't happen. I did buy the second and third book. In those books the slow and depressing feeling stays. You have to look at this book objectively in order to enjoy it. The characters are well developed and there is a good story line. These books aren't for everybody so keep in mind that you may or may not like them. I give it 4 stars.

The Bloodletter's Daughter (A Novel of Old Bohemia) by Linda Lafferty

Wow! This book was amazing. If you want a book you can crawl into and feel what the characters feel this book is perfect for you. Linda Lafferty builds a world around you and her characters in a way that makes you want to cry when they cry, rejoice when they rejoice, and love when they love. The entire book will leave you breathless and wanting more. It is a world you can truly imagine and feel a part of. I give it 5 stars.
